How to use the decision wheel

    1. Type your options in the box, one per line, or paste a list. The wheel updates as you type.
    2. Press Spin the wheel, tap Spin in the middle, or tap the wheel itself.
    3. When the wheel slows down and stops, the option under the pointer at the top is your result, shown in large type.
    4. Use Spin again for another pick from the same list, or Remove winner to take that option off the list.

    When you can’t decide, spin

A decision wheel is the most fun and the most transparent way to pick something at random from a list. Everyone sees the wheel spin and where it stops at the same moment, so nobody argues with the result. It works for deciding what to have for dinner, choosing which student answers next, settling whose turn it is to buy coffee, or running a small giveaway.

    How fair is it?

On this wheel the result is decided before the wheel starts to move. Your browser’s cryptographic random number generator (crypto.getRandomValues) picks one option with equal probability, and the wheel then slows down and stops on that slice. Spin speed, the number of turns and the moment you tap make no difference. On a wheel with 8 options each one has exactly a 1 in 8 chance, or 12.5%.

    Changing the odds

If you want an option to come up more often, simply write it on more than one line. With three lines of “Pizza” and one line of “Tacos” the wheel has four slices and pizza wins three times out of four. Press Shuffle to mix the lines so repeated options don’t sit next to each other.

    Giveaways and turn order

In a raffle you don’t want the same person to win twice. Turn on Remove the winner automatically and each result is shown for a few seconds, then removed from the list. Spin again and again to draw first, second and third place, or to set the playing order for a game. If you remove something by mistake, Undo puts it straight back, and every pick stays in order under Recent results.

    Quick lists and sharing

For a fast decision, load a ready-made list: Yes / No, Heads / Tails, numbers 1 to 10, or a random letter for word games. To send your own wheel to a friend, Copy share link puts the list inside the link, so whoever opens it sees the same wheel.

Your list and recent results are stored only in this browser on this device, so you can pick up where you left off next time. Nothing is sent to a server. If your system is set to reduce motion, the wheel uses a short, gentle spin instead.

    Frequently asked questions

Is the decision wheel really random?

Yes. The result is picked before the wheel starts spinning, using your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, and every option has the same chance. The spin animation is only visual; when you tap does not change the outcome.

Can I make one option more likely?

Yes, write that option on more than one line. For example, with three lines of “Pizza” and one line of “Tacos”, pizza has a 3 in 4 chance and tacos 1 in 4.

How do I remove a name after it’s picked?

Press “Remove winner” after the result. For raffles or turn order, turn on “Remove the winner automatically” and each result is removed from the list after a few seconds. If you remove one by mistake, press “Undo”.

Is my list saved? Can anyone else see it?

Your list and recent results are kept only in this browser’s local storage on your device and are never sent to a server. To share the list with someone, use “Copy share link”.

How many options can the wheel hold?

Up to 500. With a lot of options the slices get thin and the labels are hidden on the wheel, but the result is always shown in large type.
