Numbers are made in your browser with its cryptographic random number generator and are never sent anywhere. Your list is saved only on this device.

How to use the random number generator

  1. Enter the minimum and maximum, for example 1 and 100. For a negative number, tap the ± button next to the box.
  2. Type how many numbers you need. Keep No repeats ticked if the same number must not come up twice.
  3. Pick decimals and an order if you like, then press Generate. Quick picks such as lotto give you a result in one tap.
  4. For a giveaway, open List & draw, paste one name per line, set the number of winners and backups, and press Pick winner.

How random numbers are generated

A random number generator picks one or more numbers from the range you set, giving every number an equal chance. Use it to decide who goes first, run a raffle, choose a random sample for a survey, assign seats or fill in a lottery ticket. Both ends of the range are included: picking between 1 and 10 can return 1 or 10.

Is it truly random?

This tool uses the random number generator that browsers provide for encryption (crypto.getRandomValues) instead of the ordinary Math.random, so results cannot be predicted. It also uses rejection sampling to avoid “modulo bias”, a small skew that appears when a raw random value does not divide evenly into your range. The result: in a 1–100 range every number has exactly a 1% chance. The number appears to roll for a moment, but the result is fixed the instant you press the button; the animation is only for show.

No repeats and lottery numbers

With No repeats on, each number can come up only once, like drawing balls from a bag without putting them back. If the range does not hold enough different numbers, the tool tells you. The 6/49 and 5/69 quick picks draw unique numbers and sort them from smallest to largest. Keep in mind that every combination is equally likely: random picks do not raise your odds of winning, they just make choosing easier.

Decimals and negative numbers

Choose 1 to 6 decimal places in Number type. For example, with 2 decimals between 0 and 1, each of 0.00, 0.01 … 1.00 is equally likely. Negative ranges work too: to generate numbers between −50 and 50, enter −50 as the minimum.

Giveaways and shuffling a list

The List & draw tab is built for social media giveaways, classroom draws and office raffles. Paste one name per line; if someone commented more than once, Count duplicate lines once gives each person a single entry. You can pick backup winners too, and the result shows the date and time so you can share a screenshot. Shuffle list puts the whole list in random order, which is handy for presentation order or splitting people into teams.

To roll dice, use the Dice Roller. If you prefer a visual pick between options, try the decision wheel.

Frequently asked questions

Is this random number generator fair?

Yes. Numbers are picked with your browser’s cryptographic random number generator, and rejection sampling makes every number in the range exactly equally likely. The result is fixed the moment you press the button; the rolling effect is only visual.

How do I pick a random number between 1 and 100?

Enter 1 as the minimum and 100 as the maximum and press Generate, or tap the 1–100 quick pick. Both ends are included, so 1 and 100 can both come up.

How do I generate random numbers without repeats?

Type how many numbers you need and leave No repeats ticked. Each number then appears at most once. If you ask for more numbers than the range contains, the tool lets you know.

Can I use it to pick a giveaway winner?

Yes. In the List & draw tab, paste the entrants’ usernames one per line, set how many winners and backups you need, and press Pick winner. Count duplicate lines once gives people who commented several times a single entry. The result shows the date and time, so you can share a screenshot.

Are my results or my list saved?

Nothing is sent to a server. Your settings and the list you typed are kept only in this browser so they are still there when you come back. Use Clear to remove the list.
