Image Converter

Change photos between JPG, PNG and WebP in seconds, including iPhone HEIC photos. Convert many at once. Nothing is uploaded.

How to convert images

  1. Click Choose images or drag your files onto the box. On a phone you can pick straight from your gallery. You can add many files at once.
  2. Pick the format you want under Convert to. JPG is the safest choice if you are not sure.
  3. If you like, adjust the quality or make the images smaller with Size. The defaults are fine for most photos.
  4. Press Convert. One image downloads straight away; several images download together in a ZIP file, and each card also has its own download button.

Which image format should I use?

Every image format stores pictures in a different way, and not every app or website accepts every format. This converter changes your images to the format you need in a couple of clicks, right in your browser.

JPG: works everywhere

JPG (also written JPEG) is the most widely supported image format. Every phone, computer, website, email program and online form can open it, which makes it the safest choice when you just need a photo to “work”. JPG uses lossy compression: it throws away detail your eyes are unlikely to notice, so files are small. At 85–95% quality the difference is invisible for photos. JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you choose.

PNG: sharp and lossless

PNG keeps every pixel exactly as it is and supports transparency. It is ideal for screenshots, logos, icons, diagrams and anything with text or sharp edges. For ordinary photos, PNG files are usually several times larger than JPG, so convert photos to JPG and graphics to PNG.

WebP: smaller files for the web

WebP was designed for websites. It is typically 25–35% smaller than a JPG of the same visual quality and also supports transparency. All modern browsers display it, but some older programs and online forms still reject it. If a site refuses your WebP file, convert it to JPG or PNG here.

HEIC: iPhone photos

iPhones and iPads save photos as HEIC by default. It saves space, but Windows, many Android phones and most websites cannot open it. Add your HEIC photos here and convert them to JPG. Safari opens them directly; in Chrome, Edge and Firefox a small decoder is downloaded once, the first time you add a HEIC file.

Quality and size

The Quality slider applies to JPG and WebP. Lower values make smaller files with slightly softer detail. If a file is still too big to upload, use Size to limit the longest side of the image; 1920 px is plenty for screens, emails and most forms. The result shows how much smaller or larger each file became.

Private by design

Your images are converted by your own browser and are never uploaded to a server. Converting also removes hidden metadata such as the GPS location stored in phone photos, which makes the new files safer to share. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on the number of images.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert HEIC to JPG?

Add your HEIC photos with the Choose images button, make sure JPG is selected under Convert to, and press Convert to JPG. In Chrome, Edge and Firefox a small HEIC decoder is loaded the first time, then everything happens on your device.

How do I convert PNG to JPG?

Choose your PNG files, select JPG and press Convert to JPG. Transparent parts of the PNG are filled with the background colour, which is white unless you change it.

Can I convert many images at once?

Yes. Add as many images as you like. They are all converted together and downloaded as a single ZIP file. Each card also has its own download button if you only need some of them.

Will converting reduce the quality?

Converting to PNG is lossless. JPG and WebP are compressed, but at the default 90% quality the difference is not visible in normal photos. Converting to JPG again and again does slowly reduce quality, so keep your original file.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and your files never leave your device. Only your settings, such as the chosen format, are remembered on your own device.
