How to play solitaire
- The goal is to move all 52 cards to the four foundations at the top right: one pile per suit, built up from ace to king.
- In the seven columns, build down in alternating colours, such as a red 6 on a black 7. You can move a face-up card together with every card on top of it.
- Tap the stock at the top left to draw 1 or 3 cards. When it runs out, tap the empty spot to turn the waste over and go through it again.
- Only a king, or a run that starts with a king, can go into an empty column.
- Drag a card, or tap it to send it to the best spot. Use Undo and Hint whenever you like; when every card is face up, Auto-finish completes the game for you.
Klondike solitaire, the classic patience game
Klondike is the solitaire most people grew up with: seven columns, a stock pile and four foundations. It needs nothing more than a deck of cards and a little patience, which is why it is also called “patience”. This version keeps the rules exactly as you know them and focuses on making every move effortless, with sharp cards that stay easy to read on a small phone screen.
Draw 1 or draw 3
In draw 1 you turn one card at a time from the stock, so every card is reachable and more games can be won. It is the relaxing choice. In draw 3 you turn three cards at once but can only play the top one, which hides cards and makes planning matter. Choose your mode in Settings; your statistics are kept separately for each mode.
Moving cards your way
On a computer, drag a card and drop it where it should go, or double-click it to send it to the foundation. On a phone, simply tap: the card jumps to the best legal spot, preferring the foundation and then a column. If you prefer to choose yourself, turn off automatic moving and tap a card, then the place it should go. The keyboard works too: press Tab to reach a card, Enter to move it, D to draw, H for a hint and U to undo.
Score, time and moves
The scoring follows the familiar standard rules: points for playing cards to the foundations and for turning over hidden cards, a penalty for moving a card back down and for going through the stock again, and two points off every ten seconds. Finish quickly and you get a time bonus. Your best score, fastest win, fewest moves and win streak appear next to the game.
Tips to win more often
- Turn over face-down cards first: the column with the most hidden cards usually deserves attention.
- Don’t empty a column unless you have a king ready to move into it.
- Play aces and twos to the foundations straight away, but keep middle cards in the columns while they can still hold other cards.
- Before drawing, check every column for a possible move.

Frequently asked questions
Is this solitaire game free?
Yes. You can play as many games as you like without signing up or downloading anything. The game runs in your browser on phones, tablets and computers.
What is the difference between draw 1 and draw 3?
In draw 1 you turn one card from the stock at a time, so every card is reachable and the game is easier. In draw 3 you turn three cards at once and can only play the top one, which makes the game harder and planning more important.
Can every game of solitaire be won?
No. Most Klondike deals can be solved, but some cannot be won however well you play, especially in draw 3. If you get stuck, use Undo to try another path or start a new game.
Is my game saved if I close the page?
Yes. Your game in progress, settings and statistics are saved in this browser on this device, so you can continue later. Nothing is sent to a server.
How do I move cards on a phone?
Tap a card and it moves to the best legal spot automatically. You can also drag cards with your finger. In Settings you can switch to tapping a card and then the place where it should go.
